A/W Trend Number 2: Androgyny

"I think there's something incredibly sexy about a woman wearing her boyfriend's T-shirt and underwear." -Calvin Klein
Androgyny was another of the major trends on the catwalk this year, models donned oversized blazers, bow ties, trilby hats, tuxedos, waistcoats and white shirts. At Chanel we saw oversized trousers paired with black boots, whereas at Dolce and Gabbana the look was more tailored, with a fitted white shirt tucked into tapered black trousers and finished off with thin black braces. Whether you want to go all out or just subtly nod to the trend with brogues and an oversized blazer, keep hair and make-up simple to achieve the perfect androgynous look.

A/W trend number 1: Forties

The 40's took the catwalks by storm this season, long hemlines and high necklines created an elegant, ladylike look. They were teamed with tweed or old fashioned floral/bird prints in muted colours, mainly: greys, nudes, navy and maroons. With the occasional appearance of peter pan collars and thick, luxurious fur. Finish the look off with big sunglasses and bold lip colours- and a beehive if you dare...

Here are some looks I ripped out from magazines:

The New Mulberry Creation: The Carter

Carter. The name that's on everyone's lips. Its the new Mulberry creation and it is beautiful! Everything about it is perfect, from the chain Chanel-inspired handles to the shiny gold lock on the front. Its simple rectangular shape makes it striking, whilst being relaxed enough to look like it's not trying too hard. It comes in five colours: Birds Nest croc nappa leather (above) Midnight croc nappa leather, black snake embossed leather, and fox brown suede. My personal favourite is the birds nest croc nappa, as I love the soft, neutral colour.

It has already been spotted on the arm of Emma Watson, Kate Bosworth and Lily Donaldson, and is tipped to be even more iconic than the Alexa, which I am an owner of myself and so I'm not so sure, as I do really love the Alexa! My one criticism of it would be that in the picture above it seems to lose its shape when objects are placed inside, ruining the effect a bit, but it is still an amazing bag that Mulberry should be proud of! (and I'm sure they are!)
What do you think about the Carter? Do you think it could rival the Alexa?

Valentino RTW Fall 2011

The Valentino collection was very pretty and feminine, the designer used light, sheer fabrics and pretty colours and prints to create a very elegant Fall collection.

I love the idea of wearing a jumper over a dress like the look on the right, I love the collar coming over the jumper too. The nude colours and thin materials look very feminine and dainty, I really love the preppy style of this outfit!

The futuristic shoulders on the look on the left made this dress, I loved its simplicity and strong shape. I also really liked the sheer panelled shirt on the right, I loved the combination of the lighter and darker shades of black.

I thought these looks were really pretty and feminine! i loved the missoni-type print on the dress on the right.

The prints on these maxis were really pretty, and again the light fabrics make the dresses feminine and kind of fragile. I really liked the high neckline on the dress on the right, the small details are what make this dress, such as the neckline, long sheer sleeves and thin belt.

Roses.

I got this dress from Zara, it reminds me of an Erdem dress, or a McQueen as it is similar in shape, so as soon as I saw it I knew I had to get it! Plus, I just saw in a magazine today that Olivia Palermo wore this dress to Paris fashion week! So now I love it even more!

Jonathan Saunders A/W 11

At Jonathan Saunders we saw elegant pencil skirts, bold prints and energetic colour clashing- one of my favourite shows of the fall.

I love the print on the skirt and tops, the sheer shirt is elegant and feminine, and the pencil skirts create beautiful silhouettes. I like the way the designer used bold prints and clashing colours in these looks.

Again I love the use of bold colours, i like the way the designer clashed the blues and brown on the left, and the different tones of red on the right. I also love the elegant pencil skirts, cut to just below the knee in a 1940's style.

i like the masculine tailoring in these looks, i love the preppy suit on the left, sinched in with a simple brown belt. i also love the black and white brogue style heels! i like the material used in these two looks, the oversized red blazer is really masculine and looks great contrasted with a feminine pencil skirt and peep toe heels.

Again i love this print. I love the way it appears to "grow" from the waist up to the shoulders, and down the hips. I like the way the designer used nude on the dress on the left, it really adds to the idea of the print "growing" over the models skin. The red and black work well together, the way the print is red reminds me of the red and orange leaves that fall off the trees in Autumn, as if they fell of the trees and magically fastened to the models skin forming a dress.

I adore this maroon colour, the look on the right is one of my favourites from the show, the maroon works really well contrasted against the teal and electric blue. i also like the way the designer contrasted the matt and shiny fabrics. Again the pencil skirt creates a gorgeous silhouette and finishes at an elegant and flattering length (any longer would finish at the widest part of the calf and be very unflattering)

Gucci take the maxi from S/S to A/W

This Gucci skirt (far right) is beautiful! i love the sheer fabric, and the shorts underneath really elongate the legs. It reminds me of the Chloe SS '11 collection (left) which was one of (and still is) my favourite looks of the Spring! i love the nude colours and the flirty, sheer skirt. Gucci have taken this spring look and made it more wintery, they replaced the light, ballerina nude with, dark, billowing black. Gucci also added drama to Chloe's minimalist skirt by replacing the feminine nude jumper with a luxurious and decadent yellow asymetric blouse. Gucci also replaced the dainty ballet flats with skyscraper heels. Overall Gucci turned Chloe's pretty, innocent maxi into a more sinister, sexy piece.
We like this years version of the maxi- less hippy more sexy! A sheer maxi skirt is defo going on my A/W wishlist!

I've just noticed the hair is exactly the same! freakaaaay! Gucci obviously took a few tips from Chloe on that one...

Today I'm in love with...Chloe shirts!!

I love this shirt by Chloe, I love the colour and i love how soft and feminine it is too. Looks great with jeans, or I'm thinking tucked into a black A-line skirt with skyscraper heels and black opaque tights for Autumn!
